Unique Local fruit in Kuching -Tarap
I was in kuching last week from 28th till 31st Oct for a work related matters. After i had finished my appointments, i extended my stay and visited my brother who are working there, and also my ex-university mates. however, one thing that really excite me was i finally tasted Tarap! Tarap (how Sabahan pronounce it) or Terap (how sarawakian pronounce it) is indigenous in sabah and sarawak. you can never find it in semenanjung!
i remember how disappointed my hiking buddy and i because we didn't managed to find Tarap when we were in Kota Kinabalu. and i never thought that i would find a Tarap in Kuching. as a matter of fact, it never come across my mind to find Tarap.

anyway, below is the picture of Tarap.
i bought two, one for myself and one for my hiking buddy. and guess what, i managed to seludup the tarap back to KL in my luggage! Haahaha
This is how Tarap looks after you peel off its skin. how it tastes? it tastes like cempedak, but sweeter and more "lemak" as compare to cempedak. personally, i like this Tarap more than cempedak. not because i am bias, but it is the fact. Tarap tasted better than cempedak!

Er: hm...there are another two unique local fruits that i wanted to share.but, my broadband isn't working well...so slow...will share with you guys in the next entry.

Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve
i have heard bout Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve (AHFR) for quite a long time. But i never really have a chance of going there as there is a limited info on how to get there. Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve is located at Puchong, and it is actually belong to University Putra Malaysia(UPM). yezza, im staying at Puchong, but i never know how to get there...what a shame....

Finally, last sunday, 25th Oct, me and my hiking buddy decided to go there. guided by direction from Google map, we made our way around 630am. to our disappointment...the direction from google map didn't help much. we got lost, and going on circle. we decided to ask local on to get there...

and a funny thing happened! first, we decided to ask this one Malay auntie who jogged alone. when we stopped the car, and I'm about to open the car, the auntie ran away with horrified face! she was swaying her umbrella as to protect herself from our attack. or should i say my attack? we were paused for a while in the car, before we lough crazyly! we lough at the auntie as she looked so terrified as we were trying to kidnap her or something! what a joke....or do i really look like a crook? sex maniac look?hahahahha

Back to the story. we only reached at the entrance to AHFR around 8am. how to get there? here is the direction....copy and paste from my hiking buddy's blog :) :The entrance is located at Jalan Wawasan 5/1, Taman Wawasan Puchong. We passed Giant Hypermarket Bandar Puteri, Puchong before taking a left turn at the first traffic light after Columbia Asia Hospital. After that, take the first left at Persiaran Indera before taking the first right at Persiaran Bukit. The entrance is located right at the end of Persiaran Bukit.

oh, in that time there was this lady who was selling a hiking sticks at the entrance. very cheap! RM 28 only. Boleh dipendekan jadik shorter than my hiking stick! so i bought one. now i have two hiking sticks :)

This is the map, posted at the board at the entrance.it is good if you could snap the map as your direction.

hmm...one thing that you need to know, it is actually prohibited for public to enter the forest. if you are trekking here, meaning you are actually trespassing UPM property! but rest assured, there are lots of other locals trekking here.....

hehehe....to start the trekking you have to trespassing the fence. but, as i said, people couldn't be bothered. but always remember to KEEP THE ENVIRONMENT CLEAN!!! do not litter the forest.

trekking at AHFR is not really challenging. what you need is a stamina for a long hours of walk. i learned my lesson. i didn't had enuf sleep the night before, i slept around 3 am, and woke up around 530am. I slept less than 3 hours. and God, i was exhausted...a simple up and down hills trekking seem like a painful journey to finish!

Main attraction at AHFR is the above, and below small waterfall with big pond! the water is clear, and cold. however, it is not advisable to swim as the pond is deep. i didn't swim although i was dying to get myself wet into it. My hiking buddy didn't allowed me :(

we finished the trekking and coming back to the entrance around 1215pm. 4 hours trekking. mainly because we spend almost an hour sitting at the waterfall feeding the fish. the are quite a number of big fishes. and of course due to i walked slower as i was exhausted due to lack of sleep a night before..... well...lesson learned!

Er: reason being for lack of sleep the night before? i was celebrating my belated birthday at Tanjung Gile, North Port Klang. Zillion thankx to Sabril Hakim for the birthday cake. and so sorry, the cake eventually melted in my car as i forgot to take it along when i reached home. i only noticed the cake after i finished the trekking.....and by that time, it was too late to save the cake..........
Adam Lambert vs Susan Boyle
I am a big fan of Adam Lambert. Although he did not win American Idol (lost to a super cute-as my fren named him-Chriss Allen), i have rooted myself to Adam Lambert. Adam's latest single, a soundtrack from 2012 title Tiem for Miracles is damn good! as good as Aero Smith - I dun wan miss a thing!!!

Adam Lambert's debut album will be release on Nov 23rd 2009. cant wait to get it! oh, btw, Susan Boyle will also release her debut album on the same date! hahahahha...a competition? Susan Boyle is also a major phenamenon. But im not really familiar with her songs, or her well-known good and quality voice . so, i cant say much about her.

Adam Lambert vs Susan Boyle

vs

Er: Interesting indeed...we'll see who will win.. Adam or Susan...hm...some how i feel like i am comparing Apple and Orange...hehehhe
Happy Birthwali...to myself....
The born of a new term..created by one of my fren.....Birthwali...

Birthday

Plus

Deepavali, equal to Birthwali.....
My birthday is just around the corner. hm.......mixed feeling.....i am getting one year older...Personally, 2009 is a good year for me. I achieved few targetted things, i encountered less troublematic crisis, and i am more matured in dealing with my unstable emotion.....
I am wishing that my birthday will mark a new beginning in my life. I have taken an other step to improve myself, and my life....now it is waiting for the approval from the respective authority. if it is approved, next year i would be living my life differently. with new activity added to my daily life. Really wish my birthday would bring all the goodness to my life.
Happy Birthday to myself....
Er: btw, birthday is on the 18th Oct..... I am waiting patiently for a birthday wish from few important people in my life. and to you, even no gift this year, but a wish from you means million to me...Thank you for being a great companion.
Menanti Kasih
Bukan tak tahu tajamnya duri,
Siakar semalu bercabang cabang,
Bukan tak mahu mencari ganti,
Parut luka lalu terpandang pandang,
Pergi tak disuruh,Datang tak diminta,
Andai sudah jodoh,InsyaAllah...

Jenuh sudah merata mencari sirih,
Mencari sirih ketemu urat,
Jenuhlah sudah menantikan kekasih,
Kasih setia sepanjang hayat,
Sekacipan pinang, secubitan gambir,
Sehelai sirih dicalit kapur,
sedap dipandangan, manisnya di bibir,
Apalah kasih andai tak jujur....

Monsoon season has started. My hiking shoe, my hiking stick are all resting nicely in the store now. and my body gonna get fat also...waiting for the monsoon to over...and to start hiking again.Anyway, the above lyric is a song from Siti Nurhalliza latest ethic album (ok...i listen to her song, so what? but i only listen to her traditional song...not into her pop songs anymore...). i love the lyric....especially at the part "parut luka lalu terpandang pandang"....Yes indeed.....the bleeding heart had healed..but the scar is too big, too enormous not to be ignored. a freind of mine has already declared himself in sami mode.....also disappointed with his love life.....and myself? Parut luka lalu terpandang pandang....

Er: a good freind of mine once said " i have passed that stage...i have passed the stage longing for love....". And i asked to myself? have i passed that stage as well? i am heading that direction...... i am smiling, looking up to the sky. Thinking how to make the mountain smile for me...for myself...and not for anyone else!
Tabur again
i would never get tired of Tabur. Tabur definitely a unique place for hiking activity. Unlike other mountain, or hill as per say...Tabur offers you whole range of fun time! from normal trekking, hiking, rock climbing (d best part!!!) and of couse world class breeze at certain window at the peak! and..i dun like Bukit Datuk!!! Bukit Datuk was my first exposure to hiking activity, and i am a person who scared of height. And Bukit Datuk, at the peak you have to climb a steep step to get to the peak. To be honest it wasn't a good experience. i still remember how i felt...even though i managed to get to the top, and conquered my fear..but the experience in that particular time would never be forgotten. And Tabur, even tho there are many points where you have to do rock climbing, but i am ok with it. Even though i am not 100% free from my scared of height, but i am doing it just fine. well, experiences taught me well how to overcome your fear!

and,i went to Tabur again today. i started around 630am, first time i started early hiking Tabur. this time around it's Tabur west side. i have been hikingTabur west side two times, but never completed my hiking. by saying that, complete hiking at Tabur west side is when u coming down through the orchard.

i remember in one post, i said Tabur east side is more fun. hm... i retract my statement. If you completed Tabur west side, then you would definitely say Tabur west side is more fun. More rock climbing as compare to Tabur east side. But, if you want a nicer view of the damn, then you should go for Tabur east side.

a small slipped..there you go...to the gaung!!!!

final checkpoint... marked with no 11th!

it was also my first time got wet in the rain while hiking Tabur. On my coming down, it started raining, and i forgot to bring my poncho! however, i must say, i LOVE it!!!! it has been a while i didn't play with rain drops. i enjoy every second got wet in the rain. Fresh raindrops! i must say coming down in the rain was the best part of the hiking today!!!!!

Er: Rainism..... :)
Mastan Ghani
Everybody seem like updating their blog about their raya experience. i dunno why, I'm not really interested of updating my raya experience. not that it wasn't fun. As a matter of fact, this year my raya was great. But, i dun feel like write it down in here.

ok, lets just stop mumbling. Mastan Ghani.....it is a name of a restaurant. On the third raya, i went to Teluk Intan visiting my relatives. Teluk Intan is my parent's kampung. To be exact, it is at Sungai Manik, Teluk Intan.

Going back to Mastan Ghani. Mastan Ghani restaurant main dish is mee rebus. According to my father, this restaurant has been operating since he was young (forgot to ask how old he was, when he said young). Now my father is 70 years old. hm...can you imagine how long the restaurant has been operating? My father also told me that this restaurant is very famous among locals for its mee rebus.

However, to be honest....i cant really appreciate the famous Mastan Ghani's mee rebus. For me, it is just the same...nothing is really extraordinary about it. I dunno..this is my personal opinion. By the way, mee is not my favourite dish pung... :)

This is the restaurant. About 10-15 minutes drive from Teluk Intan's city centre.

And..this is the famous mee rebus...

Er: this is just my personal opinion...doesn't mean to memburukan mee rebus Mastan Ghani. As a matter of fact...i kinda proud they still operating till today, and had become one of the unofficial Teluk Intan landmark...
